Depression

Let's take a closer look.

Amari had trouble controlling his anger lately. He had started at a new job after the family moved this summer. He was not happy with his new teaching job. He didn't know anyone and they didn't have a soccer program so he wasn't coaching. 

 

He is still keeping in touch with his family and friends and seeing what they are doing on social media. It is making him jealous. He didn't want to move but it was a good opportunity for his wife and her career. 

 

What can you do today? 

-Name your feelings and the intensity of those feelings. 

-Give empathy for other's experience and validate their feelings. Expect the same empathy from family for your own experience. 

-Brainstorming about possible solutions and practical ways to express frustrations and don't let them build up in the body.

Depression

Leslie hasn't been able to sleep for days.  Eating has been sporadic and she has missed all of her social engagements this month.  She had accomplished so much last month. Finishing several projects, planning two dinner parties and updating her website. Why the sudden change. 

 

What can you do today?

-It might be a good time to have a wellness check up with your primary care provider. 

- take some time off but also ask others to do some fun things with you to relax. 

-Sleep is important. Reach out and change some of your habits.
